Harry Potter. No contest. Twilight doesn't even show up on the awesomeness scale compared to HP.

I've read Twlight and all the Harry Potter books, I've also seen all the HP movies. Twilight is bad. Very bad. Girls might like it, but it has "I looked into his eyes and I had butterflies in my stomach" on EVERY SINGLE PAGE. It got very old after page 3.
On the other hand, Harry Potter has plot. It has a story that doesn't involve vampires falling in love with whiny teenage girls. It has mysteries that you can't guess till the end of the book and obviously took skill to write instead of an author projecting their own personal fantasy onto paper.
Harry Potter > Twilight. End of story.

I can't really argue the quality of the two story series, as my situation puts me very precariously biased, however I will rate from other standpoints. Harry Potter's popularity has grown to be a majority of 13-15ish year old girls all screaming at the highest pitch humanly capable of hearing. Twilight's popularity has grown to be a majority of 17-18ish year old girls all screaming at the highest pitch humanly capable of hearing. When asked who they're favorite character is and why, the little uns will go on little hyperactive, bouncy, giggling rants. The more mature audience however, will simply state their favorite, and, depending on how "open" they are, go into detail. I guess I'm still at an impass. The little uns are kind of funny to watch, but the mature audience is far more interesting. EDIT: P.S. Did the topic of this thread come from an ad on this site?

Twilight all the way. For one) the books were way better. They were more adult, more relative to teenager's and there situations, and more well-written. At least in my opinion. I also thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Where the Harry Potter movies have taken a detour from the books since the change in directors, Twilight was one of the few movies that stuck to the book almost scene for scene, quote for quote - not to mention the cast choices were exactly the same as the characters I imagined reading. For two) The Harry Potter books, while awesome in their own rt, are written for a younger audience. J.K. Rowlings is able to construct very vivid worlds, however, much of the visualizing is left up to the reader's interpretation because of her general lack of extensive descriptions (like those found in classics, dickens, and many newer adult works (the tony ballyntine series for instance)) Furthermore, the new dumbledore is a poor substitute for the old, and since when do the wizards wander around school, and attend class in normal clothes??? Also, a lot of significant transition scenes and chapters in the book are omitted in the movies to save time. So it tends to get confusing some of the time, and others you get the wrong idea because there isn't enough background. So I vote Twilight I apologize for the long post - I just see everyone asking for explanations so I thought I'd save everyone the characters and do so.
